We transited the Panama Canal and we’re preparing to leave for the Galapagos

We transited the Panama Canal on April 2nd and 3rd. We spent 1 night on a mooring at the Balboa Yacht Club before moving to the La Playita Marina. We are taking to additional friends as crew for the passage from Panama to the Galapagos. They arrive late Saturday night and we plan to leave for the Galapagos on Sunday the 8th.

The trip from Panama City to the Galapagos is approximately 940 nm and will probably take 6 or 7 days. This passage is known for it’s light winds and the need to motor some. We’ll make landfall in Puerto Ayora on San Cristobal. The plan is to rest and sight see for 1 or 2 weeks before heading off on the 2970nm passage to the Marquesas.

I have lots of pictures of the trip so far and some videos, I just haven’t had time to get them posted. I’ll also be doing a detailed article on the cost and process of transiting the canal.
